Increasing pollution in the house due to luxury lifestyle

City doctors have found ingredients that increase the risk of asthma and allergies in Mumbai. In addition to respiratory diseases caused by pollen, fungi, mold, and dust mites, which are not commonly found in warm climates, are found in civilian homes.

The study was jointly conducted by the Environmental Pollution Research Center. The study by doctors on the impact of environmental factors on asthma iThe information was received by the workers at the beginning of the study and later they reached their homes with the necessary equipment to check the lung condition of the people living in these homes. They hung slides in the windows of these houses to collect pollen and fungal spores.

Preliminary findings of the study found that 4.5 percent of asthma patients were influenced by environmental factors. "For the first time, we can say with evidence that some Mumbaikars suffer from asthma due to pollen in Mumbai's air," said Dr. Amita Athawale, Head, Department of Chest Medicine, KEM Hospital. We believe that there is no fungus in the tropical climate of India. However, this study found that Mumbai has the same fungus as the western countries.

Doctors warn that moisture on the walls of the house causes black cottony growths, which is a sign of fungus. The fungus is caused by water seeping into the roof or wall of the house. However, dust mites are more likely to trigger an asthma attack than fungi.

Fungi can be found in homes that have air conditioners running at night, even when there is no fresh air during the day. Dr. Athawale says that people keep the AC on throughout the night and leave in the morning without opening the window. Due to this the environment of the house remains moist and fungus starts growing.

However, there is no way to reduce the amount of pollen and fungus in the air in the city, so people must keep their lungs strong. If a person's lungs are weak, fungi and pollen will be affected. Asthma patients are rarely seen in villages. While lifestyles are changing in cities and people are getting sick from indoor pollutants, the doctors concluded. There are some things to keep in mind to prevent asthma.

After turning off the air conditioner, open the window and let the open air come into the house.

* Remove carpets from the house.

* Do not keep pets in the house.

* Having small plants in the house also attracts germs and particles, so do not keep them.
